And my car now has CCTV-surveillance.
The tiny red light is the forward facing camera, there’s one facing to either side and one facing right towards the drivers seat too. Yup, I live in a “rough” neighbourhood.

There’s a bunch of drug addicts living in my area, this setup cost me about 160 USD.. Worth it.

And some of us thought Norway was a quiet law abiding place.

I thought so, but wasn’t sure. But yeah, that’s why I’ve got CCTV in my car (the shelter, not my inability to speak English :P )

Not much more to show really, just small (tiny) cameras, a Raspberry Pi and a small wireless transmitter.. The only camera you can see is the one at the front. The battery is hidden below the passenger seat along with the Razzy Pi and the transmitter. I’ve got it set up so that it records for one hour, then sends the files to my server and deletes anything on the MicroSD cards in the cameras before it starts recording again. The downside is that there is a ten second gap every hour with no recordings.

Did you document the build? I'm looking to move from arduino into RPi, and this might have utility for me.

You’ll be sorry when all that equipment achieves sentience, and the last thing you hear is principal feeny saying, ‘I’m sorry, Laird. But I can’t do that.’

I did not, but it’s fairly simple. If you know how to write a program(ish) in any language you’ll be able to write something similar. I’m using Raspbian on mine.

Got a nice price on the hardware, got a buddy who works as a programmer for a huge company here in Norway. He helped me with the script.

Very cool! I almost want to do this for the hell of it because it seems pretty awesome and is pretty reasonably priced! :)
Would make for hella awesome dashcam vids as well - almost 360 degrees :P
